Captain Canter sparks Reds

Denis Morris captain Chad Canter came up big Thursday in the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association AA boys hockey final at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The Grade 12 player netted a hat trick, including the winner, to power the Reds to a 6-2 come-from- behind victory over the Saint Francis Phoenix. The game was much closer than the final score indicated thanks to a pair of empty net goals by the Reds.
Reds coach Bryson Filipetti wasn’t surprised by Canter’s heroics.
“He is a player that we can depend on. He brings the energy every single game and he leads by example,” he said. “He is a man among boys out there. You can see it in his shot and he got three goals for us today in a big game.”
Filipetti feels it’s Canter’s mental and physical toughness that make him special.
