The Denis Morris Reds (1-3) kept their playoff hopes alive with a 30-6 victory over the Saint Michael Mustangs (0-4).

Helping the Reds to the victory were: James Clutterbuck with a five-yard touchdown run; Cole Kelly with two 15-yard TD catches and two two-point converts on catches from Ethan Lampman; Blake Berard with a 105-yard kickoff return TD; Owen Bartley with a two-point convert on a pass from Lampman; and, interceptions by AJ Albano, Lucas Baxter, Blake Berard, Owen Corman (2) and Bishop Austin.

“The Reds were relentless in their pursuit of the ball on defence and were focused on scoring on offence, though penalties were still a problem,” DM head coach Steve Roach said. “We look to continue the momentum next week against Saint Paul where the winner will get into the playoffs. I’m proud of how hard the guys fought today. They finally found a way to win and now that they’ve figured it out they will be tough to beat.”

Austin MacRae scored on a six-yard touchdown run for the Mustangs but the pass for a two-point convert was knocked down by Xavier Griffith.

“Sometimes lightning strikes in places. It just was not our day,” Saint Michael coach Mark Antonelli said. “Big hats off to Spencer MacRae who had himself a heck of a season.”
